At Jane Hudson Books, we want you to love what you read. If you are not entirely satisfied with your purchase, we are here to help. Our policy complies with the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) and the Electronic Communications and Transactions (ECT) Act of South Africa.
1. Change of Mind (7-Day Cooling-Off Period)
- Under the ECT Act, if you change your mind about a printed book purchase, you can cancel your order within 7 days of delivery for any reason.
- To qualify, the book must be unread, undamaged, and in its original, resalable condition.
- You are responsible for the courier costs to return the book to us.
2. Defective or Damaged Books
- Under the CPA, you have a 6-month implied warranty on goods. If your book arrives damaged, defective, or is not what you ordered, you must notify us within 7 days of delivery.
- Please email us at info@janehudsonbooks.com with your order number and photos of the damage or defect.
- For verified damaged or defective items, we will arrange and pay for a replacement copy or issue a full refund (including original shipping costs).
3. Exceptions / Non-Refundable Items
- E-books and Digital Downloads: Due to the nature of digital files, all sales of e-books or digital downloads are final and non-refundable once downloaded or accessed.
4. How to Request a Return
- Send an email to info@janehudsonbooks.com with your name, order number, and reason for the return.
- We will reply with our physical return address and instructions.
- Pack the book securely and send it via our approved courier method – Pudo lockers.
5. Refunds
- Once we receive and inspect your returned item, we will notify you via email of the approval or rejection of your refund.
- If approved, your refund will be processed back to your original method of payment (or via EFT to a South African bank account) within 10 to 15 business days.
